I love Minerva McGonagall!
Minerva is a character that really appeals to me. She is the voice of authority and order and you can imagine her as quite possibly the very strict teacher that all of us have crossed one time or another. She follows the rules because she believes they are correct. She bends them only when she knows in her mind they are in the correct circumstances to do so. Some people may see her as a bit of an elitist, someone who knows they are always right and above everyone else. Minerva is not like this, she will admit when she if wrong, however painful it is when she strives to always do, say and act in the appropriate way. When I first started reading the Harry Potter books all those years ago, I warmed to Minerva and she became like a kind of family figure that was always there. She has in many ways been like a mother figure to Harry and you can't help but feel the same way. She is also really apart of the 'good guys' and strives to make sure at the end of the day they are on top, and everyone is still studying. As a role player, I enjoy Minerva more than words can really say. I have been role-playing for nearly six years and Minerva has always been a character I have taken on. After you have been a character for so long you really feel a connection with them, of course you do invent your own ways they might respond to situations but you really can get inside their head. I think the main thing I have learnt from her - and yes this is possible. Is that everyone is different, having goals and setting them. Some people are made to give guidance to others, some follow it, some licence it and some will just never listen.
